Standard Construction Company, Inc. is a hot mix asphalt paving contractor and supplier in the Memphis, Tennessee metropolitan area. In operation since 1957, this locally owned company operates four hot mix plants and five gravel pits in Southwest Tennessee, as well as, two gravel pits in north Mississippi.

Standard Construction handles projects for federal, state and local governments, and the private sector. These jobs consist of street, road, or interstate overlays; new road construction, or road widening projects; and airport runways. Standard Construction also lays asphalt for parking lots, tennis courts, running tracks, cart paths, and walking trails for private owners and developers.

Standard takes pride in its service and quality work on all jobs, and has been recognized for such work in receiving awards for quality by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. By gearing some crews for heavy and highway work and some crews for the private market, Standard is able to serve all types of projects in a timely, resourceful, and responsive manner.

In the fall of 2007, we expanded our line of business by opening a sand and gravel pit in Byhalia, MS. The sand and gravel reserves at this location offer a range of DOT approved products such as washed aggregates, fill sand, mason sand, and road gravel.

The company is licensed and insured for work in Tennessee (monetary limit is "Unlimited") and Mississippi. Bonding is available for all types of asphalt work through the Travellers.

Standard Construction is an active member of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), the Tennessee Road Builders Association (TRBA), the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and North Mississippi Home Builders Association (NMHBA).
